What’s Up? I’m Costas Schuler.

Also known as the ‘Pen Guy,’ I’ve managed to collect over 500,000 used pens from all over the world, and am currently rolling in my second ‘Mercedes Pens’ Art Car. My dream Art Car is a Bentley covered in pens which I will call the ‘Pentley,’ and my dream vacation is chilling on a yacht in Monte Carlo, like the Pen Guy version of James Bond. Or not.

I’m the branding and design guru here at Crossing the Jordan. I interpret Dana’s vision and make it into reality. I’ve been here since the beginning, actually even before then. Back then Dana used a different designer to make their first logo but I freaked out over the design and offered to take over. Ok, wait, I AM a super relaxed person but I take the design process very seriously. Listen, it’s my job to make us look good, and don’t you ever use comic sans around me! I am literally a weirdo about stuff like that.

You never know what you’re going to get with me, I might be juggling, on my balance board or furiously writing ideas down on my whiteboard. My office is very minimal, a recycled french door desk on welded metal legs as the centerpiece, 2 vintage vemcolite lamps, a welded golf club sphere on the desk and my pen art on the wall for some color. And yes, I actually do work once in a while!

I was born in Athens Greece to a Greek mother and an English father who met in Australia years before. After Greece we moved around a bit, including Cambridge, England and Doha, Qatar,  eventually settling in California when I was 13.

I’ve been married to my best friend, Sandy, for over 22 years and we have 4 amazing children. I love being a father and a husband, and I love personal growth and encouraging myself, my family, and others to learn and have fun doing new things.

Welding, doing calisthenics, and watching NETFLIX are my favorite pastimes…however journaling for hours first thing in the morning is very important to me. Once I’m in the office, its just Fun Times going at it like a mad scientist in the creative lab. On rather long days, when I eventually come up for air, everyone says I look like Kramer from Seinfeld.

I’m an innovator, I love to imagine and come up with new ideas, new solutions to problems. That’s what I love most about the Crossing the Jordan team. We are always growing, moving forward, stepping outside the box, willing to take risks. I watch people detox and then come alive. Sometimes I can’t even recognize them as the same person. I work closely with the graduates and am honored to call them my friends.

It is seriously a wild ride here and I am the man for the job. I’ll design their dreams and I am blessed in the midst of it all. It’s a win-win for me and a win-some-more for us all.
